Oh so Pretty

As much as we hate to admit it, the Summer is coming to an end and although we generally side with warmer, sunny weather, we can’t help but feel excited about some of the 2017 Fall trends. We’ll be sharing a report featuring all of our favourites in the coming weeks, but for now we’re going to focus in on one: metallics!

All things shiny are taking over with the seasonal shift, both in fashion and beauty, and you won’t hear any complaints from us here at RAOP. We are already eating up Dries Van Noten’s oversized oil slick jackets, Chanel’s glittery boots paired with glittery tights and of course Nina Richi’s full length metallic flamingo pink outfits.

Luckily this elegant and expensive looking trend doesn’t have to break the bank this fall. We put together an affordable metallic look with the help of Walmart’s fully loaded beauty section. Everything we used is on-trend, fairly-priced, good quality and most importantly, cruelty-free too! Here’s what we used to channel our favourite FW17 trend:

Hard Candy Metal Eyes Chrome Eye Shadow Kit ($8.98)

ELF Highlighting Dewy Drops ($5.97)

ELF Blending Sponge ($5.97)

Ardell Faux Mink Lashes ($9.97)

Hard Candy Clump Free Volumizing Mascara in Electric Blue ($6.98)

Hard Candy Baked Illuminating Duo ($8.98)

From eyes to cheeks and everything in between – Walmart has what you need at great prices to stay on top of the metallic trend this season!

Shop these fall beauty must-haves and more from Walmart in store and online here!

Oh so Pretty

I have a hard time committing to a certain cosmetic collections, and always end up using a big mixed bag of products and potions on my skin. Thanks to our line of work, we’re constantly trying new brands and the most recent creations on the market, but this past month we fell in love with a brand and a formula that has stood the test of time.

Roger & Gallet has been “Distilling happiness since 1862” – inspired by ancient remedies and the avante-garde attitude of Paris, this brand is luxury-meets-apothecary traditions. Using 95% natural ingredients and precious essences, each and every Roger & Gallet product is designed to make people happy, from formula to scent, and after trying out their new skincare line Aura Mirabilis, we were just that.

Aura Mirabilis is a 4 piece beauty routine that’s formulated with 18 distilled and officinal plants for truly magical results. Inspired by “Aqua Mirabilis”, a powerful natural remedy created by Monks 300 years ago that could be drunk or applied to the skin for numerous healing properties, this line is a new twist on old medicine, and we’ve been loving the effect it’s had on our skin so far! Used by famous leaders and royalty for centuries, this skincare is literally fit for a queen. Newly available at Sephora, this line starts at $25 and it’s worth every penny.

Oh so Pretty

As always, we’ve continued to have our eye on gems ever since the Annabelle-inspired beauty tutorial a few months back. Since March’s birthstone is the beautiful blue/green aquamarine (one of my personal favourite stones) we decided it made sense to try channeling it into a beauty look as well.

Bold colours can be hard to translate into the world of beauty without accidentally giving yourself a blue “bruised” eye look (don’t even get me started on the pink eye challenge), so we kept things simple with a few key products and a lot of blending. You can find the step by step below!

What we used from Annabelle //

Blue Hue Trio eyeshadow palette
Pearl Twist-up eyeshadow crayon
Self-Sharpening eye pencil in Ocean & Midnight
Big Show Waterproof mascara
Lipsies Diamond Lip Balm in Marshmallow

How we did it //

Start with a fresh clean palette, we recommend a thin layer of primer, covering the eye lids as well, we used Laura Mercier’s Foundation Primer. Use a light pressed powder like Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish to even out complexion and get rid of shine as needed.

Our go-to eye illuminator is Charlotte Tilbury’s Miracle Eye Wand.

Using Annabelle’s trio eye shadow palette, Sweep the lightest shade across the whole lid and up toward the brow bone.

Follow up with the medium shade in the crease of the lid making sure to blend, use the darkest shade in the very outer corners of the eye.

Use the Pearl eyeshadow crayon to highlight the inner corners of the eyes as well as the bottom outer corner. You can also apply it to the brow bone and cheeks as an illuminator.

With the self-sharpening eye liner draw a cat eye along the lash line and underneath the eye, we used a combination of Ocean and Midnight. Add some extra glittery-touches with Urban decay’s Heavy Metal Glitter liner in Distortion.

Apply a light dusting of an iridescent loose glitter powder, we used Limited Edition Shu Uemura’s Shupette Glitter Collection but try out Make up forever’s in Diamond

We recommend finishing the look off with some Big Show Mascara and Lipsies Lip Balm in Marshmallow.

Oh so Pretty

Love in in the hair! Ermmm, I mean, air! Since we’re celebrating love all month long (and time is almost up) we didn’t want to miss the chance to get creative with a love-themed beauty look as well! Putting on a swipe of red lipstick can add confidence, style, and an element of fun to any old day, so we came up with a mega cute red lip look with Annabelle that literally lets you wear your heart on your kisser!

What we used //

Blush in Rosebud
Twist-up lipstick in Flirtini
Big Show lip lacquer in Adore Simply
Big Show lip lacquer in Love Fiercely

DSC_0542

Start with your usual primer and foundation routine, apply this directly onto lips as well.
Now apply Rosebud to just the apples of your cheeks. You’ve set the stage for the perfect doll-like Valentines lip look!

Use the twist-up lipstick as a crayon, luckily it’s perfectly shaped for the job, starting in the centre of the lip working outward start to draw a heart shape onto your mouth. Use the top points of your lip as the top of the heart and colour just the centre of the bottom lip in. Don’t go all the way to the outer edge of the lip. Now use a cotton swab to blend around the edges.

DSC_0544

Add a swipe of the Simply Adore lip lacquer to the whole lip, this will help blend as well. Now finish it off by dabbing some Love Fiercely lip lacquer back into the middle of the lip to make your heart lip more bold and glossy! We recommend finishing off the look with a simply cat-eye.
