And just like that, a new year is upon us. I can’t honestly say 2015 has been my best year, but it’s definitely been 365 days of massive change, unfathomable surprises, the highest high-highs and some pretty dismal lows. I guess to sum things up, it’s been a year of change, and though I’m thankful for so many of the amazing experiences and opportunities I’ve had, I have to admit I’m really excited to start fresh in 2016.

So let’s grab a cocktail and cheers to new beginnings in the new year!

Because 2016 is going to be so awesome, Johanna and I wanted to whip up an equally awesome NYE cocktail to ring in the new year, RAOP style. We received the sweetest holiday package filled with glittery organic cotton candy from our pal Fancy Pufs just before Christmas, and it turns out fairy floss goes remarkably well with our favourite NYE essential, pink champagne. Top it off with a splash of Dillon’s Rose Gin and tinsel stirrers, and you’ve got yourself the prettiest New Year’s cheers!

Ingredients //

Fancy Pufs Cotton Candy (pink preferred!)
Pink Champagne
Dillon’s Rose Gin
A classic bar set (Ours is from Cocktail Emporium)

Recipe //

Fill each glass with cotton candy (as much as you can fit!)

Pour two shots of rose gin and approx. 1 cup of champagne into a cocktail shaker. Stir gently.

Pour the mixture over each glass of cotton candy and watch as the sugar dissolves into the champagne (it’s more fun than you think…)

Top off each glass with extra cotton candy and champagne until full, then add a stir stick of your choice- we just glued bits of tinsel onto paper straws!

Cheers to 2016

Dear Diary

DSC_0039

I have a bit of an issue when it come to Christmas shopping: I just don’t know when to stop! Every single year I get out of hand, on a mission to find that perfect special something for everyone on my list, from my next door neighbour who I barely know to my parent’s dog.

At the very top of my “love to shop for” list sits my pastel prince, aka whoever I happen to be dating when the holidays hit. Don’t get me wrong- I genuinely love gift shopping for anyone and everyone, but above all I delight in splurging on cashmere scarves, dress shirts, spicy cologne and printed socks. I have a secret affinity for menswear and gentleman’s products, so Christmas gives me the perfect excuse to really dive into that world.

This Christmas I’m lucky enough to have a pretty magical guy in my life, which means I went on a bit of a spree collecting all sorts of treasures for him. From a fancy gold embossed deck of cards (he does magic, literally) to my favourite men’s cologne (which he just so happened to wear before I even met him), this guide really got much more expansive than I had originally planned… but what’s wrong with a bit of Christmas spoiling, right?

*Gender aside, this roundup is for all those handsome, masculine-identified folks in your life. Happy shopping!

It’s finally here!

It seems like it was ages ago when Paige and I first started planning our Pastel Pool Party, and now finally after a sparkling debut on The Glitter Guide, we can share all of our favourite magical moments with all of you!

The only problem is… we have an awful lot of favourites! Over 100 to be exact (Our photographer Scarlet is sort of a genius- lets leave it at that), so we’ll be posting photos in waves over the next few weeks. I hope you fall in love with all the pink, pastel, cake and confetti, and feel inspired to throw a Pastel Pool Party of your own one day!

We firmly believe that cocktails are a must for any soiree, but something simple like gin and tonics or vodka waters just won’t do! Making themed, fancy drinks and dressing up a bar cart is one of our favourite parts about throwing parties, so figuring out cocktail recipes was the first order of business on our list when it came to planning our Pastel Pool Party!

Poolside lounging is pretty synonymous with cute tropical drinks, and we really wanted to bring some fun elements into these cocktails to channel that pairing. We teamed up with BYOB, an amazing cocktail accessory shop down the street from Bicyclette, and they provided some amazing syrups and mixes for us to experiment with. We also picked up a few bottles of gin from Dillon’s, a local distillery that makes wonderful spirits, plus some fruit, sparkling water, and of course pink champagne. Here’s what we came up with when we put everything together for our tiki cocktails!
