Dear DiaryDress UpOh so Pretty

The new year is all about new traditions, so we thought it was about time to introduce some fun new ideas here at RAOP. We fall for countless products and pieces over the course of a year, but some really stand out above and beyond others. Whether it be a beautifully handcrafted, locally-made backpack, or crazy glittery rings that match every manicure, we can’t help but pick favourites, and to bring 2015 to an end we decided it would be fun to get all of them together in one “best of 2015” styled lookbook.

Ladies, gentleman, kittens, and everyone in between- we give you our 2015 RAOP picks!

Dress Up

I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to the way everyone hides inside in Toronto when it rains. Born and raised in Vancouver, I grew up loving just about everything about the rain, and unless I’m headed somewhere crazy important I can promise you’ll never see me seeking shelter under an umbrella. To get to the point, I don’t mind getting my feet wet, and a little rain can never keep me away from a cute cloudy day outfit.

I picked up this 60’s style peach frock from Honey awhile back, and I’ve been patiently waiting for the temperature outside to allow for thicker fabrics ever since. When it finally cooled off this past weekend I knew rain or shine, I had to give it a try, and so I spent the afternoon puddle jumping in front of peach walls- I mean really, what else was I to do?

Dress UpI'll Follow You Anywhere

Even though I’m originally from Vancouver, with every new year Toronto feels more and more like home, and there are a handful of new traditions here that I’ve adapted as my own. From Nuit Blanche to yearly pool hopping, there’s always something special to do, but nothing quite beats the magic that rolls into town at the end of August. That’s right, I’m talking about the The Ex.

Growing up in Vancouver we always had the PNE, but for some reason it was never really part of my childhood. Here in Toronto, the CNE is a must for almost much everyone, and it’s a pretty special experience to be able to walk a few blocks away from downtown and end up at an old-timey fairground filled with rides, fun food, and games. My picks this year include the swings and Wild Child’s Kitchen, but in all honesty you really need to head down there and see the sights for yourself! I mean really, is there any better way to finish up an amazing summer?

Dress Up

I’ve mentioned this a few times in the past, but I’m finding it harder and harder to find clothing I actually like in person. For the most part I’m limited to online shopping, especially with my sparkly, over the top taste, and though it’s fun getting special packages delivered to my door I definitely miss the actual experience of shopping.

A few weeks ago Honey reached out to me, and intrigued to see what they had to offer, I headed up to Yorkdale Mall for a little pre-birthday shopping spree. As soon as I walked into the shop I felt right at home- there were sequin pieces and hot pink dresses, statement necklaces and lace skirts. I knew I had found my new happy place, and I promptly tried on half of the items in the store.

I went home with two tops and a dress, and though I’ll be showing off all 3 over the next few weeks, I figured I’d start with this incredible golden magic crop top. Paired with simple light-wash boyfriend jeans, booties, and my classic Hoi Bo bag, it makes for a pretty perfect Autumn outfit, don’t you think?
