Wrapped up in Rainbow Roses

Holy moly it’s been a hot Summer! Most of my outfit choices as of late have involved being as naked as possible without literally looking like a naked person. Though I can’t say I’ve totally mastered the balance (there have definitely been some nudish days) my secret weapon has definitely been wrap dresses.

Wrap dresses are seriously the perfect summer staple: they come in all shapes, sizes, and cuts, feel loose and airy on your body while still showing off your shape and they’re easy to loosen on the go if the heat is turning you into a sweaty marshmallow puff (it happens to the best of us!) I have lots of different versions of wraps in my closet, but I love this Needle and Thread Rainbow Rose Wrap Dress from Hudson’s Bay for a number of reasons. First off, how beautiful is the fabric? There are so many magical rainbow flowers and delicate ribbons of colour woven into the pattern. Plus… it’s pink, and in my world that’s an easy sell! Add some ruffles and a a bit of lace trim and I’m totally in! Bonus? It’s now on super sale too!

Paired with dressy high heels and a clutch this piece is perfect for a wedding or evening affair, but I prefer to wear it in the daytime with a simple bucket bag and mules or even sneakers. Insider tip – it also came with a really cute slip dress layer that’s detachable and can be worn on its own too!

A Dreamy LBD

I may be the queen of all things pastel, but even I can recognize the importance of a perfect little black dress (aka LBD!)

This , one of my favourite brands and makers of the best dresses, is fit for just about any occasion. From day to night and casual to classy, the flouncy cut and adorable back details will have you turning heads from all angles this holiday season. That said it wouldn’t be a holiday look without a bit of sparkle, and that’s where the shoes come in. Studded with delicate crystals, these elevate any look. Most days I pair them with socks and cropped denim, but for December only a dress will do!

Finished with my classic blush pink trench and a delicate pink scarf, this outfit might just be one of my favourites of the season!

Long Live White T-Shirts!

Though it may seem like I’m always dressing up in bright colours and novelty pieces, I’m actually a big sucker for good, clean basics. A former retail employee at one of Canada’s best stores for simple dressing and well made essentials, I have a massive collection of carefully cut denim, simple comfortable black heels and above everything else, WAY too many plain white t-shirts.

My team frequently pokes fun at me for my addiction to soft, white t-shirts. I’m always on the lookout for the MOST perfect one and when I find a good one, I have a hard time choosing to wear anything else. The problem is, this love affair has always been a tumultuous one, because I’m also very clumsy, which means wearing white is basically a promise I’ll be doing laundry at the end of the day. I’ve had to turn so many of my beloved white tee-shirts into cleaning rags, losing them to stains, stretching and pilling thanks to too many washes.
