Dress Up

Like just about everyone, I have a bad habit of returning to the same spots time and time again to take photos. The “pink wall” of Vancouver (conveniently attached to a very tasty ice cream shop) is no exception, and it’s become a bit of a pilgrimage every time I’m back in my home town. My trip home over the holidays this past December was no exception, and despite the frightful weather conditions I managed to convince my dad to help me take some snaps in my new favourite outfit from CONVEY.

Dressed up in the a leather skort, iridescent pink loafers, a cashmere sweater and the softest white silk shirt of all time (similar here), I braved the wind and pouring rain to get these snaps because the outfit was just that cute. Horrible at the time? Definitely. Worth it in the end? I think yes…

Dress Up

Other than early summer, this time of year is my absolute favourite for outfits. Honestly, the month of December is the only time when sequins and glitter are considered acceptable attire, and though I generally pay no mind to “the rules” it does feel nice to float around in a sea of sparkly people (In fact, I call it “sparkle season”).

This year I found myself extremely drawn to rose gold, peach, faux fur and all thing bejewelled, so I decided to combine all of those things into 3 holiday party looks (aka. Pastel Christmas Looks, 3 Ways). Which one if your favourite?

Look 1: Shoptiques romper, ASOS pom pom flats, Mink Pink “Oh Deer” coat.
Look 2: Dahlia dress, Miu Miu flats, The Whitepepper Moon purse.
Look 3: Keepsake dress, vintage coat and shoes.

Do you remember skorts? Growing up I always wanted to be in pretty skirts and dresses, but I was crazy active and messy and all over the place, so my mom always tried to trick me into wearing skorts. I hadn’t really revisited the idea since until I came across this blush skort at Forever21 a few weeks ago, and this time no one had to trick me into putting it on.

Can I just say that skorts are my new favourite thing? Paired with a cute crop top, tights, and an oversized vintage sweater, this outfit is the perfect combination of comfy and cute. I still prefer dresses and skirts to pants even now, and it turns out skorts are a perfect happy medium, especially this time of year. Why should you have to choose between a skirt and shorts, right?

Dress Up

I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to the way everyone hides inside in Toronto when it rains. Born and raised in Vancouver, I grew up loving just about everything about the rain, and unless I’m headed somewhere crazy important I can promise you’ll never see me seeking shelter under an umbrella. To get to the point, I don’t mind getting my feet wet, and a little rain can never keep me away from a cute cloudy day outfit.

I picked up this 60’s style peach frock from Honey awhile back, and I’ve been patiently waiting for the temperature outside to allow for thicker fabrics ever since. When it finally cooled off this past weekend I knew rain or shine, I had to give it a try, and so I spent the afternoon puddle jumping in front of peach walls- I mean really, what else was I to do?

Dress Up

So the pictures pretty much speak for themselves in this one because this dress is ahhhhhmazing!

I’ve mentioned in the past that I’m not big on going out (specifically partying), but sparkly little dresses like this bronze and mesh number from Maccs are the kind of motivator that always gets me out the door. I just love dressing up, especially when sequins are involved, and though I don’t get to wear outfits like this two often, I really go all out when I do. Who ever said you can’t mix short and tight with high heels and a big sparkly necklace? Someone with way too many rules, that’s who.

What are you waiting for? Let’s party!
