Dress Up

Though the weather has suggested otherwise this past week, I’m calling it – Winter is dead! I’m always the first to jump the gun on sunny weather, stripping down to show as much skin as possible even when it’s far too early to reasonably do so. What can I say, I LOVE the feeling of warmth on my skin! I need to be free! Winter jackets and long johns have been stifling me for far too long (says the girl who spent most of the winter in California…)

This season I’m trying to be extra selective when adding to my wardrobe. Now that i find myself living in a pocket-size apartment, so I’m only accepting really special pieces and elegant staples, and I try to shed something worn out every time I bring in something new. This rose satin wrap dress from LULU by Rana falls somewhere in-between – the cut is both modern and classic, and the longer sleeve length makes it an ideal transitional Spring item. Paired with a trench (because Spring layering is crucial), ballet-inspired pumps from ALDO, the perfect ’70s inspired mani from Chillhouse and hints of tortoise shell & gold, this look is simple but still fun.

Because really, what’s the point in getting dressed if it’s not fun, right?

Dress Up

Time is flying by, and somewhere between moving, travelling and about 1000 other things we’ve got on the go, Spring has somehow sprung! Though the weather is definitely still super patchy here on the Canadian East Coast, I’m finding every opportunity I can to don my Spring best.

This amazing pink lace arrived from while I was in California, but since returning to cold Canada I hadn’t had much of a chance to take it out of the closet. An evening out in NYC for oysters and lavender prosecco cocktails was just the occasion I’d been waiting for, and Sel Rose proved to be just as picture-perfect in real life as it looked online when I was shopping around for pastel places. Complete with my favourite blush trench from Club Monaco and my brand new (the dream New York souvenir)

Dress Up

In case you somehow aren’t already aware, Johanna and I ADORE Disney. Disneyland, Disney movies, the Disney store in the mall- you name it! We’re all about that princess life!

It should come as no surprise that we practically ran to the theatre when we heard there was a new “Alice Through the Looking Glass” movie coming out last month, and we were even MORE excited to hear about Call it Spring’s Alice-inspired shoe collection!

Inspired by one of our favourite whimsical animated films, this OOTD goes out to you Alice- see you at the bottom of the Rabbit Hole!

Dress Up

Bare legs! Light jackets! Open toe shoes! Oh how pleased I am that the season has changed and the sun is out. Factoring in a parka when outfit planning gets tired really fast, and now that I don’t have to worry about heavy outerwear I feel like I have a whole new wardrobe to play with!

I scooped up this adorable new cream jacket from Blush, aka the dreamiest pink-filled boutique in all of Ontario, and I can’t get enough of all the pretty little details (those buttons!) Paired with hints of gold and my super cute new locally made pink Min purse, this outfit is ladylike and perfectly pastel.

Dear DiaryDress UpI'll Follow You Anywhere

Yesterday Johanna and I got to live out our high school dream- an epic shopping spree date at the mall! When we were invited to ride the first trip of the #VMshoppingshuttle, aka a charter bus that takes shoppers from downtown right to Vaughan Mills Mall and back home again, all we could think about were all those teen movie scenes with girls bouncing out of shop doors, arms bursting with shopping bags of every shape and colour.

Well, not to toot our own horns (that’s the bus’ job!) but our day was everything we dreamed of- less a few prop shopping bags I’ll admit. The massive floral bus rolled up to 123 Front Street (right near Union Station) to retrieve us, and we were greeted the the world’s sweetest little lady bus driver, and free WIFI (always a blogger perk!) In a short time we were on our way to the mall, and though we got a lot of work done on route we were definitely eager to reach our destination.

As soon as the bus doors swung open we were on our way. As per usual we were on a mission to dig up all the best pastels, and as newcomers to Vaughan Mills (neither of us had ever been before) we had a lot of ground to cover. Favourite spots included Aritzia, HR2, and Chipotle for lunch, and after we’d shopped till we dropped, we got to drop right onto the magic mall bus and zip back home with no hassle.

Is it weird I’m half expecting to wake up without any of my new treasures, only to find it was all a marvelous dream?
