Dress Up

When I was growing up, Guess was the coolest shop at the mall. I’ve been wearing their clothing since I was 16, and they’ve never failed me in the realm of sparkly platforms, short shorts and denim jumpsuits. A few weeks ago Guess invited me to host a festival fashion event at their Eaton Centre location and I just couldn’t say no- host a party at a shop I’ve adored for most of my adult life? Yes please!

Of course a new outfit was pretty much mandatory for my big night at the mall (who hasn’t had a fantasy about partying in a mall right?) so I headed over to The Eaton Centre for a little throwback shopping spree. I walked out with an almost entirely peach and pink outfit, and honestly it’s a *total dream*. The suede style skinnies are so unbelievably soft I have had a hard time not sleeping in them, and don’t even get me started on the oversized ballet pink crepe blazer. It wasn’t the look I was expecting to end up with- it’s even better than I could’ve imagined!

That said, let’s get dressed up and hang out! Join me this Friday at Guess Toronto Eaton Centre from 5-9 for a fun style event! There will be snacks, hair braiding, Crystal Head vodka cocktails, and rumour has it there are special discounts too! See you there? You can RSVP here!

Dear DiaryDress Up

To say FW16 Toronto Fashion Week was a whirlwind is an understatement. We ran in high heels through pouring rain, probably took 20 last-minute Uber rides to make it to shows, and even got placed in the coveted front row once or twice.

We’ve been to TFW shows in the past, but this season was the first time we really truly felt like a part of the chaos. We were at the tents every single day and I even got to spend some time behind the scenes at a Fashion Magazine shoot featuring looks from the shows. Below you’ll find some snaps from the shoot, plus team RAOP’s favourite looks from the FW2016 shows!

Fashion Week Faves

Mackage // Embellished Knees

Sparkly knees? Yes please! We can wait to bedazzle all of our pants for next season.

Narces // Lace & Sparkle

Romantic silhouettes and ladylike touches graced the Narces collection- you might say we fell in love.

Helder Diego // Blush Grunge

If ballerinas decided to get edgy, their outfits would likely mirror the magic at Helder Diego. We especially adored the blush leather harnesses!

Hayley Elsaesser // Bold Pop Prints

Hayley wins our hearts every season without fail, and her Big Lebowski-inspired collection this season was no exception. One of each please!

Hilary MacMillan // Soft Pinks

Nobody showcased our favourite shade quite like Hilary MacMillan, and from fluffy pink furs to flowing pink dresses, the entire presentation was pink perfection.

Dress Up

Most of the time you can find me prancing around here in light jackets, skirts and high heels, but today we’re going to be honest about what I’ve been wearing in real life for the past few months (even if it’s not nearly as darling). As much as I’d love to live in a place where floral dresses reign year-round, the truth of the matter is for at least 4/12 months I really survive in scarves, mittens, hats… my trusty parka of course!

When I first moved to Toronto my West Coast parents were determined to get me the warmest parka they could find, terrified by tales they’d heard of Ontario winters. I wore that same parka every single winter right up until this past fall when I finally decided to invest in a new model.

I know what you’re thinking- a black parka? Really? But when it comes to winter warmth even I have to get practical, and since this particular Aritzia model can shed its lining to become a light waterproof Springtime layer for muddy bike rides, I couldn’t refuse the versatility.

Don’t worry, you can always invest in some bright hats and mittens until Spring style rolls around!

Dress Up

It’s almost time for Team RAOP to take off for the sun, but we figured we’d brave the elements and shoot one last cold-weather outfit post with our current favourite winter pieces first. Getting dressed can get pretty dismal this time of year, and I’ve been rapidly losing inspiration over the past few weeks, but recent investments in soft wool and dreamy silks have really breathed new life into my wardrobe. Of course my cute new vegan leather backpack from Shoptiques and classic Ted Baker booties don’t hurt either.

Now if only I could ditch the tights…
