Dress Up

I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to the way everyone hides inside in Toronto when it rains. Born and raised in Vancouver, I grew up loving just about everything about the rain, and unless I’m headed somewhere crazy important I can promise you’ll never see me seeking shelter under an umbrella. To get to the point, I don’t mind getting my feet wet, and a little rain can never keep me away from a cute cloudy day outfit.

I picked up this 60’s style peach frock from Honey awhile back, and I’ve been patiently waiting for the temperature outside to allow for thicker fabrics ever since. When it finally cooled off this past weekend I knew rain or shine, I had to give it a try, and so I spent the afternoon puddle jumping in front of peach walls- I mean really, what else was I to do?

Oh so Pretty

I emailed Amanda, my hair colour expert at Blyss Salon, a few weeks ago asking if she’d be into doing something special with my locks for my upcoming Mexico trip, and oh my did she ever deliver!

Using Davines colour and flambouyage strips, she created a pink and purple mermaid masterpiece, perfectly finished with a cut and styling by Alyson Peach. We all went back and forth on what to call it as the appointment wrapped up and we snapped photos, and we came up with everything from “It’s like a pearl” to “Omg it’s SO Barbie Dream House!” In the end we decided there wasn’t really an official name, but I like to call it simply my best pastel hair yet!

Dress Up

So my wonderful pastel-haired friend Johanna has been helping me out with Random Acts of Pastel stuff over the past little while, and when she emailed me these photos with the subject line “RAOP; star of Frozen” I couldn’t help but smile.

Though we only shot these photos last weekend, Toronto already feels like a whole new city today. The ice is thawing, the sun is shining, and I even rode my bike to work this morning. I was really dreading coming back from Las Vegas (photos and city guide coming soon!), but the change in season has definitely got me feeling inspired. Hopefully this will be the last icy, snowy, mega-bundled outfit post until November! A girl can dream, right?

Oh so Pretty

I pride myself on being a bit of a pastel hair expert, mostly as a result of using myself and my friends as guinea pigs over the years. I’m a total control freak, which means I’d rather mess up my own hair 15 times than let someone else mess it up for me, which is why in the past I’ve ended up with yellow bangs and green stained hair that refuses to go away.

Thank goodness there’s a new pastel pro in town that I actually trust.

Good Day Hair Shop is a brand new salon with a neat take on hair, style, and everything in-between. Basically they seek inspiration from digital channels like Tumblr and Instagram, using real life examples of cool folks to create looks in the salon. Located in Kensington Market, they offer great pricing, a fun laid back atmosphere, and they also have their own handmade, cruelty-free product line called “Unicorn Soft” shampoo and conditioner, and it legit smells like creamsicle (full review coming soon!)

I stopped into Good Day for an appointment with Gosia, one of the pink-haired stylists (almost everyone that works there has magical pastel hair btw), and left with the most incredible silvery grey to lavender Ombré bob you ever did see. I’m already dreaming up what we can do together next time I visit!
