Dress Up

For a long time Jo and I fought our twin-like ways. We’d text before showing up to work to make sure we weren’t accidentally matching, and blush when we inevitably arrived in the same place in almost identical clothing anyway. We tried to keep our hair different shades at all times, and put a lot of energy into finding looks that would differentiate us.

But still, the questions remained the same: “omg, are you sisters?”, “Are you TWINS?” and these days we’ve decided we may as well just get crazy matchy matchy. That’s right, we’re purposely twinning all the time, and honestly, it’s pretty darn fun.

Hayley Elsaesser is one of our favourite local designers, and every year we flock to her fashion week show like a couple of moths to a big colourful flame. This year she invited us to visit her shop for some new items to sport at fashion week (dream come true!) and though we attempted to each pick a totally different outfit, we walked out looking like twins in identical two piece ensembles once again.

The perks? We almost always have the same item in multiple prints/colours, and we can pretend to be one another à la parent trap in like, 80% of situations…

P.S. Happy first day of summer!!!

Dress Up

In case you somehow aren’t already aware, Johanna and I ADORE Disney. Disneyland, Disney movies, the Disney store in the mall- you name it! We’re all about that princess life!

It should come as no surprise that we practically ran to the theatre when we heard there was a new “Alice Through the Looking Glass” movie coming out last month, and we were even MORE excited to hear about Call it Spring’s Alice-inspired shoe collection!

Inspired by one of our favourite whimsical animated films, this OOTD goes out to you Alice- see you at the bottom of the Rabbit Hole!

Dear DiaryI'll Follow You Anywhere

I don’t often find the time to go thrifting or visit antique and flea markets anymore, so when my friends at Kitten and The Bear invited me to come visit them at The Echo Beach Flea I was thankful for the excuse!

Only a few blocks away from my house, this new reincarnation of The Junction Flea was just what the doctor ordered for a sunny Saturday. I feasted on cauliflower tacos with mango sauce, sipped a shaken iced chai almond latte, and scooped up the prettiest little vintage pink-framed mirror you ever did see.

If you’re looking for a new venue to treasure hunt this summer, look no further!

Dear DiaryParty Time

I’m not sure what’s happening, but has anyone else noticed Club Monaco has been on point lately? Their melon and coral Spring colour scheme is truly wardrobe perfection, and don’t even get me started on the delicate accessories and ladylike frilly details. Even the menswear is what prince dreams are made of!

When the Club Monaco flagship on Bloor launched the #CMmarket last summer, a small gathering of local businesses in sweet stalls in front of the shop, I was totally smitten to say the least. You can imagine my glee when I was invited to the launch of this summer’s market! It was basically like a wedding with a talented live band, twinkle lights overhead, and a smattering of amazing treats and cocktails unlike any other. Highlights included fresh Sweet Woodruff floral arrangements, popsicle cocktails, and crazy good treats from Bake Shoppe (as always.)

Make sure you add this special little pocket of Bloor street to your must-see list this summer!

Dear Diary

It’s that time of year when everything turns pink, hearts take over every shop window, and love is in the air. That’s right, Valentine’s Day is upon us, and though it’s one of my favourite holidays I can’t say I’m really feeling the love this year like I usually am.

That’s why I’ve decided to make Valentine’s 2016 the year of me and my girls (as Selena Gomez would say). This February 14th, I’ll be all about Galentine’s Day.

I’m all about my girl gang, and over the past year I’ve built the most amazing network of women up around me. From the girls at Sophomore to my Instagram pals from all around the world, The Shine Theory is really ruling my 2016, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. When Giftagram approached me to curate their new #BFF section I instantly jumped at the opportunity. Pick out gifts for girls, from girls? Um yes please! I quickly got to work choosing my favourite items, and I even got to take some pretty pictures for the app! Here are some of my favourites:
