Get Creative

With the Spring Equinox almost upon us and the weather still cold as ever, Jo and I have been feeling a little drained. The days always feel too short, I was sick for quite some time with a kidney infection (OW) and we’re both in the process of moving, which is exhausting all on its own.

We couldn’t have asked for a better time to attend Hunt and Gather’s workshop with Witch in the Wild.

Let’s face it, a bad day (or month in this case) is no match for fresh blooms, self care products, and a touch of crystal magic. This two-part girl gang workshop started with an awesome lesson on blending your own organic, vegan, crystal-infused floral toner. The medicinal meets mystical with this simple DIY, and I loved how fun it was to make, even for a terrible crafter like me.

Part two was taken over by Tellie, one of my favourite florists, and owner of the brand new Hunt and Gather (go there and buy ALL the plants – you won’t regret it). Faced with amber jars and buckets of fresh flowers, we got to arranging our own divine bouquets to take home and treasure.

Topped with tea, treats, and a healthy dose of girl power, this evening event was exactly what Jo and I needed to recharge and power up. See you at the next workshop?

Get CreativeParty Time

It’s been a long time since Paige and I have gathered the time and energy to put on another #getsocialworkshop, and in all honesty we were a bit nervous this time around. We were working with a new space, a lot of new sponsors, and both of us have shifted our focus so vastly over the past couple of years we didn’t really know what to expect.

But for the third time, we were so pleasantly surprised with how it all came together.

The workshop this time around was packed, despite having expanded to a larger space, and everyone came from totally different backgrounds, which made the range of information we had to discuss so much more dynamic. Over incredible pink waffle breakfast sandwiches from Burger Pawty, fresh blooms by Wild North Flowers, and hot tea from Teapigs, attendees spread out around the space, snapping photos on coloured backdrops with glittery fun props. I think it’s safe to say that even when time was up, no one was really ready to go back to reality and head home!

Paige and I feel so incredibly lucky to have the chance to take part in such an inspiring and creative community, and it’s days like this past Sunday that really remind us why we do what we do. Thanks so much to everyone who joined us!

Dear Diary

It has been a *very* big week for #teamRAOP. We like to jump into things with both feet, so this week we launched our new site design, opened a web store, and we’re thrilled to announce we’ll be hosting a pop up at CONVEY this weekend too!

I don’t even know where to start with my feelings right now. Its been such an incredible experience to watch all of these dreams come to life at once, but I think I might need a hundred year nap next week!

I couldn’t have made any of this happen without my incredible team, amazing roster of talented makers, and most of all the super talented Jeanine Brito, who designed both the storefront and our new website! How great are all these gradients and shades of peach?

Scroll down for full Pop up details!

Yesterday Johanna and I got to live out our high school dream- an epic shopping spree date at the mall! When we were invited to ride the first trip of the #VMshoppingshuttle, aka a charter bus that takes shoppers from downtown right to Vaughan Mills Mall and back home again, all we could think about were all those teen movie scenes with girls bouncing out of shop doors, arms bursting with shopping bags of every shape and colour.

Well, not to toot our own horns (that’s the bus’ job!) but our day was everything we dreamed of- less a few prop shopping bags I’ll admit. The massive floral bus rolled up to 123 Front Street (right near Union Station) to retrieve us, and we were greeted the the world’s sweetest little lady bus driver, and free WIFI (always a blogger perk!) In a short time we were on our way to the mall, and though we got a lot of work done on route we were definitely eager to reach our destination.

As soon as the bus doors swung open we were on our way. As per usual we were on a mission to dig up all the best pastels, and as newcomers to Vaughan Mills (neither of us had ever been before) we had a lot of ground to cover. Favourite spots included Aritzia, HR2, and Chipotle for lunch, and after we’d shopped till we dropped, we got to drop right onto the magic mall bus and zip back home with no hassle.

Is it weird I’m half expecting to wake up without any of my new treasures, only to find it was all a marvelous dream?

Dear DiaryI'll Follow You Anywhere

I don’t often find the time to go thrifting or visit antique and flea markets anymore, so when my friends at Kitten and The Bear invited me to come visit them at The Echo Beach Flea I was thankful for the excuse!

Only a few blocks away from my house, this new reincarnation of The Junction Flea was just what the doctor ordered for a sunny Saturday. I feasted on cauliflower tacos with mango sauce, sipped a shaken iced chai almond latte, and scooped up the prettiest little vintage pink-framed mirror you ever did see.

If you’re looking for a new venue to treasure hunt this summer, look no further!
