Oh so Pretty

So I’ve already shared all of the details about this hair colour and how it came about on XoVain, but I wanted to share a collection of my favourite photos here too because it turned out SO pretty!

Created by my very talented friend Alysha at Parlour Salon with Wella’s new Instamatic collection, this look is pretty much cotton candy unicorn magic! Subtle and perfectly diffused, it was a colour job that I couldn’t help falling in love with, and I can’t wait to see what we come up with together next!

Oh so Pretty

I pride myself on being a bit of a pastel hair expert, mostly as a result of using myself and my friends as guinea pigs over the years. I’m a total control freak, which means I’d rather mess up my own hair 15 times than let someone else mess it up for me, which is why in the past I’ve ended up with yellow bangs and green stained hair that refuses to go away.

Thank goodness there’s a new pastel pro in town that I actually trust.

Good Day Hair Shop is a brand new salon with a neat take on hair, style, and everything in-between. Basically they seek inspiration from digital channels like Tumblr and Instagram, using real life examples of cool folks to create looks in the salon. Located in Kensington Market, they offer great pricing, a fun laid back atmosphere, and they also have their own handmade, cruelty-free product line called “Unicorn Soft” shampoo and conditioner, and it legit smells like creamsicle (full review coming soon!)

I stopped into Good Day for an appointment with Gosia, one of the pink-haired stylists (almost everyone that works there has magical pastel hair btw), and left with the most incredible silvery grey to lavender Ombré bob you ever did see. I’m already dreaming up what we can do together next time I visit!

Dress Up

It’s been confusingly chilly for the past couple of weeks, and I think I speak for almost everyone in Toronto when I say we’re not really sure how to dress anymore. Usually I’d be spending my August days cycling around in cute strapless dresses and gingham shorts, but all of those summer outfits have already been closeted in favour of warmer pieces.

To say I’m a little down about this strange weather is an understatement, but there has been one upside to this whole thing that really lifts my spirits: I can wear some of my new Fall clothing early!

A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of designing some custom items through Bow and Drape, a U.S.-based company where everything is handmade locally, and each piece is totally customizable! One of my favourite designs was the Geo Sweatshirt, a super soft textured cream sweater with gold zippers down the side. I dressed it up with some crystals and a little unicorn applique, and now thanks to the shift in temperature, I can start wearing it!
