I'll Follow You Anywhere

Heading into this weekend, I really had no idea what to expect. I’ve loved the idea of running away to a music festival for so long, and I was a little worried that my expectations and all the hype wouldn’t quite add up in the end.

Let me just say right now: all of my expectations were completely blown into the sky like fireworks on a warm summer night by the time I packed my bags and drove away from Wayhome.

This past weekend has been one of the best of my life to date. I knew I would love the music (Odesza? Lowell? Alvvays? How could I not!?) but what I didn’t anticipate was all of the other magic that came along with the incredible lineup. I learned how to pitch a tent, made so many amazing new friends, and ran across a massive field in the middle of a rainstorm screaming. I explored the Etsy booths in search of treasures, ate way too much veggie poutine, and danced until I physically couldn’t move anymore. Every night I fell asleep listening to dreamy sounds fading off into the distance, and every morning I woke up with the sun in my eyes and a smile on my face.

Best of all, I got to spend almost every second with one of the most amazing women I’ve ever met. Meghan somehow kept up with me (for the most part) from start to finish, and I can’t imagine having spent the past few days with anyone else. Both of us really needed this weekend away from the city to have a bit of fun, and I think we’ve both arrived back in Toronto ready to take on the world.

The only question on our minds? What’s our next adventure!

Dress UpI'll Follow You Anywhere

You may not believe this, but I’ve never ever been to an overnight music festival before. I have never camped on site, or stayed up crazy late to see my favourite band’s set- and honestly, I don’t even know how to pitch a tent! Perhaps this is why I’m so unprepared to leave for Wayhome tomorrow.

Me and my good friend Meghan are heading to the festival grounds tomorrow morning, and we couldn’t be more excited to go on this new adventure together! I’ve just started to pack this morning, which means prep is going to end up a little bit scrambled, but I managed to scoop up some pieces from my favourite Etsy vendors, so I’m definitely feeling more prepared today than I was a week ago!

I’m not big on typical “festival style”, but there are a few staples even I couldn’t avoid when planning my outfits, like vintage denim cut off shorts (I got mine from Citizen Vintage), and a comfy cute romper, like the little floral number I picked up from Jordan De Ruiter (one of my favourite local designers!) I even got the chance to partner up with Citizen Vintage on a custom pastel bag design- it’s vegan, handmade, and created using denim from the legs of jeans they cropped into cut offs for their shop! They’ll also be making a very limited run of the “RAOP” bag, available in their Etsy shop soon!

I’ll be sharing my style and experience on Instagram and Twitter over the course of the weekend, plus my favourite bands, food vendors, and Etsy market stalls, so be sure to follow along!
