Dress Up

Most of the time you can find me prancing around here in light jackets, skirts and high heels, but today we’re going to be honest about what I’ve been wearing in real life for the past few months (even if it’s not nearly as darling). As much as I’d love to live in a place where floral dresses reign year-round, the truth of the matter is for at least 4/12 months I really survive in scarves, mittens, hats… my trusty parka of course!

When I first moved to Toronto my West Coast parents were determined to get me the warmest parka they could find, terrified by tales they’d heard of Ontario winters. I wore that same parka every single winter right up until this past fall when I finally decided to invest in a new model.

I know what you’re thinking- a black parka? Really? But when it comes to winter warmth even I have to get practical, and since this particular Aritzia model can shed its lining to become a light waterproof Springtime layer for muddy bike rides, I couldn’t refuse the versatility.

Don’t worry, you can always invest in some bright hats and mittens until Spring style rolls around!

Dress Up

Though its been an unusually warm January, there’s no doubt that it is in fact sweater weather here in Toronto. I’m a huge proponent of sweaters, whether they’re thick fleecy sweatshirts or thick cable knits, and every winter I add one or two special pieces to my neatly folded collection.

A few weeks ago our good friends at CONVEY (our favourite shop in the city, conveniently located right across from the Pastel Palace) mentioned they had a new knitwear shipment, so I immediately popped over to see what they had in store. Within seconds I had totally fallen for an oversized bubblegum pink boyfriend sweater, and as soon as I put it on my body I knew it had to be mine.

Long story short, I pretty much haven’t taken it off since. Seriously, this sweater is the softest cotton candy perfection, and it’s oh so warm! Paired with a collared shirt and my new favourite 3×1 black skinny jeans (conveniently also from CONVEY), it’s my new favourite winter staple.
